Curl La Tourelle Head Architecture have gained planning permission for Adur and Worthing Council on our collaborative regeneration of Brooklands Park project on the South Coast. The development aims to transform the parkland into a science and discovery destination with a cafe and visitor centre acting as a catalyst for the parkland regeneration.
Brooklands Park sits between the coastal towns of Worthing and Lancing acting as a green pathway from the seafront to the South Downs. The park’s heyday was in the 1960s and 70s where multiple concessions and attractions such as a paddling pool, model train line and mini golf course brought many locals and tourists to enjoy the area. However in recent times some areas of the park have fallen in to disrepair. The new masterplan proposes re-imagining the park as a science and discovery destination with a café and visitor centre with strong links to STEM subjects, viewing platforms, improved pathways, re-landscaped sensory gardens and new play areas. The proposed new centre acts as both a gateway from the park’s east entrance and a focal point from the south, drawing both local and new visitors into the park.
