The Guest House, designed by Aguilo & Pedraza Arquitectos, is part of the infrastructure of the Torres del Paine Conservation Reserve by @exploratravel, located in the Chilean Patagonia. The building serves as accommodation for members of this conservation community and features a simple program consisting of bedrooms and common spaces.
To minimize environmental impact, most of its components were prefabricated. This approach significantly reduced on-site construction work, limiting damage to the surrounding landscape and contributing to the protection of this remote ecosystem, home to several endangered species.
Wood was used for both the structure and the interior and exterior cladding. Red sheet metal highlights window openings, doors, and panel joints, creating a distinct architectural expression. The design explores prefabrication techniques and the aesthetic potential of wood in harmony with a protected landscape of exceptional natural beauty and biodiversity.
