The commission consists of a vertical shelter that will serve as a refuge during the construction of the main house and as a guest house in a later stage.
The project is located in a coastal natural environment with interessting rock formations and outstanding natural beauty, which requires special care in placement of the houses, plays an important role to blend in the landscape, both in its external and internal perception and in how views are framed from within the project.
The design proposes a vertical positioned parallelepiped measuring 3.2 x 6.4 x 9.6 meters. Inside, a high space allows optimal overhead natural lighting to enter from above. The windows are carefully placed to frame specific views and provide focused lighting, achieving a degree of intimacy provided by one large window on the first floor, offering/creating a spectacular costal view of exceptional geographic richness—an experience that is heightened from the habitable rooftop lookout.
Its material raw, silver-gray wood with tonal variations inspired by the natural weathering of timber—ensures a seamless integration with the surroundings without overpowering them.
The project and its setting maintain a strong connection with the surrounding nature, acting as a bridge between it and the inhabitant.
