This project was designed for a wedding held inside an industrial warehouse in Ghent, Belgium. Rather than developing separate spaces, ERASED STUDIO envisioned a singular, evolving scenography that set the intended atmosphere for each phase of the celebration.
The primary challenge, given the specific context, was to create a warm and intimate environment within the monumental structure. To address this, ERASED STUDIO introduced a dynamic, moving fabric as the centerpiece of the design—an elegant yet captivating installation that transformed both the space and its ambience throughout the event.
Upon entering, guests were greeted by a floating fabric attached to a central structure above the dining table, resembling a gigantic, double-layered canvas. Hanging just a few centimeters above the seated guests, the fabric altered the perception of the space, filling the void overhead.
At a key moment during dinner, 10 performers approached the table and attached handheld ropes to the fabric. After returning to their positions and pulling the ropes, the fabric unfolded. Simultaneously, the central structure was lowered, transforming the space above the table. The fabric, now evoking the shape of a tent, was illuminated by warm orange light, echoing the sunset outside the venue.
At the end of the dinner, the table was cleared and split into four pieces, creating a central dance area. The structure was lowered further until the fabric began to drape across the floor. By pulling two central ropes, a final transformation occurred, creating a third space resembling a cross-shaped cave. This final phase aimed to craft an intimate, enclosed dance floor, distinct from the vast, dark warehouse surrounding it.
In addition to the spatial design, ERASED STUDIO directed the event’s artistic elements, meticulously curating the furniture, decoration, lighting, and music to ensure a cohesive aesthetic and an immersive experience throughout every stage of the celebration.
